A France based energy major launched a strategic modernization initiative to transform a legacy application ecosystem into a scalable, secure, and cloud native solution hosted on AWS. The existing applications was deployed on Azure using a lift and shift approach, limiting performance, agility, and scalability while increasing operational overhead. Backend services running on single servers, fragmented authentication mechanisms, and database intensive reporting further constrained system reliability.
Infosys partnered with the client to re architect and refactor the application landscape by fully embracing AWS cloud native architecture. The modernization introduced containerized microservices, modern frontend delivery, centralized identity management, and secure database access patterns. The solution was designed to support both internal and external users across multiple affiliates, while ensuring high availability and resilience.
By leveraging managed AWS services and embedding security, scalability, and observability by design, Infosys helped the client significantly reduce downtime, improve performance, and streamline operations. The transformed platform delivers sub second response times for most user interactions and provides a future ready foundation that enables faster innovation, improved efficiency, and consistent digital experiences across the enterprise.

Infosys modernized the client’s legacy application ecosystem by refactoring the Azure-based deployment into a cloud native architecture on AWS. Backend services were containerized and deployed on AWS ECS Fargate, enabling autoscaling, improved resilience, and simplified operations. A modern Vue.js single page application was hosted on Amazon CloudFront, enabling affiliate-specific routing and consistent digital experiences for internal and external users.
To strengthen security, Infosys implemented Amazon Cognito integrated with Active Directory for internal authentication. Backend services accessed databases securely through RDS Proxy using IAM roles, improving security posture and reducing connection overhead. Performance bottlenecks—particularly during reporting—were addressed through multi AZ database design and read replicas to isolate intensive workloads from transactional operations.
The solution also streamlined CI/CD by consolidating services into a single repository with independent pipelines, and implemented comprehensive monitoring and auditing using CloudWatch and CloudTrail to improve reliability and reduce MTTR.
