Global S/4HANA template for a Japanese automotive parts manufacturer
Situation
A Japanese multinational manufacturer of automotive parts produces components including automatic transmissions, hybrid transmissions, and car navigation systems. Most day-to-day operations were being managed through legacy systems.
With approximately $10 billion in revenue at the company level and $30 billion as a group, the organization launched a global ERP transformation program based on an SAP S/4HANA 1610 template.
Infosys Consulting supported one of the group’s largest companies in designing and implementing a standardized process template, which would serve as a blueprint for subsequent rollouts across the broader group. This included the development and implementation of a finance BPC template and integration of local legacy systems with SAP S/4HANA 1610.
Solution
- Implemented a financial operations template in SAP S/4HANA.
- Built and deployed the finance and BPC modules in the first phase.
- Integrated financial data from various legacy systems through middleware processes into the central ERP template.
- Enabled outbound data extraction from SAP (ACDOCA, BSEG, BSEG_ADD) to external systems (e.g. HOST, BI) for reporting.
- Addressed challenges around performance and extensibility in SAP Fiori apps.
- Dealt with end-user concerns related to application speed and usability.
- Continued front-end operations in local legacy systems, with backend integration to S/4HANA.
- Established a scalable, repeatable template for rollout to other group entities.
Benefits
- Faster, more efficient financial closing process.
- Improved sales and account planning through business process optimization.
- Reduced manual effort and increased speed in report generation.
- Enhanced ability to predict supply and operational constraints.
- Real-time budget vs. actual management capabilities.
