Remote people transfer for global TV & broadband company amidst pandemic

Situation

An international TV and broadband company faced a complex and sensitive people transfer involving 226 employees. The transition was further complicated by the unforeseen and immediate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the planned transfer date occurring just two weeks after a national lockdown was announced. This necessitated a last-minute pivot to a fully remote program for the transition and integration. Adding to the complexity, the due diligence (DD) phase was conducted concurrently with the transition preparation, even before the contract was formally signed. Furthermore, the job titles of the transferring employees were a sensitive matter that required careful consideration during the integration process.

Solution

We focused on a structured and empathetic approach to ensure a smooth transition and integration for the 226 employees. We began by preparing the transition through the organization of a "Meet Infosys" event and the setup of individual 1:1 session to foster initial connection and address individual concerns. A key component was the development of a framework to understand and harmonize the compensation and benefits packages. To keep employees informed and engaged, we created and implemented a comprehensive communications plan and a dedicated engagement plan. Finally, we designed and deployed ESAT (employee satisfaction) surveys to gather valuable feedback, which was then shared, discussed, and used to create actionable plans for continuous improvement.

Results

  • The program achieved high engagement, with 63% of the transferring employees completing the ESAT survey, significantly exceeding the average completion rate of 30% for other programs.
  • The complete integration program was successfully rolled out within a timeframe of seven months.
  • A virtual training program was effectively designed and implemented for the transferring employees.
  • A roadshow featuring interactive kiosks was successfully conducted during the "Meet Infosys" event.
