Nucleus Research features case study on Infosys and Configit
ABB is a Swedish-Swiss multinational corporation, operating mainly in robotics, power, and automation technologies. Their Electrification Products Protection and Connection (EPPC) business unit needed an effective sales configuration solution. Towards this, we drove the deployment of Configit as a common global sales configuration solution.
The ABB team adopted a phased rollout, using a combination of professional services from Configit and Infosys. The first countries to go live were the United States of America and Denmark, followed by Brazil, Sweden, Italy, and Germany. Today, the solution is live in 20 countries, with the implementation in progress in 10 countries and additional countries on the roadmap for 2017.
Building an implementation team and process — including both a software service provider (Infosys) and the technology provider (Configit) — helped to ensure that the EP division would have adequate resources to support a wide scope of implementation and a robust implementation process while managing implementation costs.
The project enabled EPPC and other business units of the Electrification Products division to accelerate the development of bills of materials (BOMs) for quotation and orders, reduce BOM errors, and capture new market opportunities.
Some of the key benefits of this project were increased productivity and sales, reduced printing costs, increased customer self-service, and improved technology management. This helped in 76 percent increase in ROI resulting in an average annual benefit rolling up to US$2,388,303.
