Hapag-Llyod partners with Infosys to drive carbon accountability

Hapag-Llyod, a global shipping container company, wanted nuanced carbon emissions data to comply with decarbonization regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The company partnered with Infosys to evaluate its carbon footprint and drive carbon accountability.

Patrick Briest, Senior Director IT, Network and Operations at Hapag-Llyod shares how a carbon tracking solution developed by Infosys is set to reduce carbon emissions by one-third by 2030 and enable net zero fleet operations by 2045.

Nikhilesh Bhatia, Director of Fleet Energy Efficiency, Hapag-Llyod, discusses how the solution monitors emissions across their fleet. The solution allows Hapag-Llyod to submit annual reports across parameters. It supports verification by statutory authorities, carbon rating of vessels, and remedial action to reduce the carbon footprint.

Infosys executives share contours of the solution. It measures greenhouse gas emissions, which empowers Hapag-Llyod to decarbonize supply chains of customers. A visualization dashboard collates data from internal and external sources. The solution will be further enhanced by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) facilitating predictive insights for real-time decision making and proactively managing the carbon footprint.
