Infosys manages Epicor’s IT helpdesk and datacenter operations resulting in near zero downtime and enhanced customer experience

Founded in the early 1970s, Epicor Software Corporation is a US based company that provides industry specific cloud and on premise software for verticals such as manufacturing, distribution, retail and services. With an employee base of around 4000, the company earns a billion dollars in revenue and has a presence in 150 countries globally.

Epicor has grown through numerous acquisitions and one of the resultant challenges, explains Mark Mincin, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Epicor is the complexity from disparate infrastructure, applications and processes.

Epicor’s objective was thus to reduce this business complexity across the organization and consolidate their 28 data centres. They hoped this would also reduce costs and better customer service. Epicor turned to Infosys to help them in this journey to redesign their data centres, develop a migration strategy and actually execute the migration plan.

In line with expectation, adds Mark, the advantage of partnering with Infosys was twofold, one it reduced costs, and secondly, it enabled Epicor to standardize processes, reduce the number of data centres and ensure a better experience for their customers. This engagement has led Epicor to see Infosys as an extension of themselves and an important partner in their strategic success.

Epicor is also reviewing Infosys IIP platform for their data strategy initiative. They already have a proof of concept and IIP is going to be part of the platform that they are going to pilot.

In a parting message to CIOs, Mark advises, ‘determine your strengths and internal capabilities, and locate a partner who is capable, strong and talented in the space that you need’.
